Working With Me
I'm CTO at Bang Digital, and I run this freelance practice alongside it for smaller, well-defined jobs, typically $150 to $1,500: quick bug fixes, hosting migrations, tracking, integrations and small builds. They start with a paid diagnostic, around $150. I look at the real problem or map what you want to build, then send a written fixed-price quote, usually within three business days. Work starts on a deposit, you deal with me directly, and you own the code.
Bigger projects run through Bang Digital, and so does anything involving security, backups, ongoing maintenance, speed optimisation, page-builder WordPress sites or Magento. There's more on that under Bigger Projects below.
Everything else on this page is for the jobs I take on myself: how they go, and the terms that come with them.
How It Goes
- Diagnostic or discovery session, around $150. I look at the real problem, or map what you're trying to build. Simple problems are often fixed during the diagnostic at no extra charge. If something isn't worth building, I'll tell you.
- Written quote, usually within three business days. A fixed price in dollars, not hours. Project work comes as a scope of work (SOW): fixed line items with a cost against each. The quote confirms the start date.
- Deposit, then work starts. On larger jobs, each phase also starts on its own deposit.
- Access through a password manager. You share logins through a password manager, never by email or chat.
- I do the work. You deal with me the whole way through. No project managers, no junior developers, no handoffs.

You Own It
The code I write for you is yours.
Your hosting account sits in your own name. I don't resell or manage hosting, so you're never locked to me or any other developer.
Logins and access come through a password manager, never by email or chat.
Day to Day
You deal with me directly. When you send a message, I'm the one who reads it and does the work.
Hours. I work 9 to 5 most days, Perth time (AWST, UTC+8).
Replies. Within one business day, usually the same day.
No phone calls. Everything runs over email and chat. It keeps every request in writing, which keeps quotes specific and turnaround fast.
Urgent problems. A site that's down or broke after an update is urgent work, and it runs through Bang Digital. Email brad@bangdigital.com.au.
Out-of-hours work. Available at a fixed rate, quoted up front.

Do you charge by the hour?

How soon can you start?
It depends on what else is booked in, so I confirm the start date in the quote. The quote usually arrives within three business days of the diagnostic.
Can we talk on the phone?

Who owns the code and the hosting?
On the jobs I take on myself, you do. You own the code, and the hosting account is in your name. I don't resell or manage hosting, so you're never locked to a developer.
What if you can't deliver what you quoted?
On the jobs I take on myself, you get a refund if I can't deliver what was quoted.
